SUBJECT: COMMENDATION ANNOUNCEMENT 11 NEW YORK REGIMENT
BE IT KNOWN to all that the UNITED STATES VOLUNTEERS SUPERIOR UNIT AWARD is hereby commended.
The Commanding General United States Volunteers takes great pleasure in announcing commendation of this most prestigious USV award to the Officers and Troopers of the 11th New York Regiment United States Volunteers.
BE IT FURTHER KNOWN THAT THE SUPERIOR UNIT AWARD to THE 11th NEW YORK REGIMENT, ITS COMMANDING OFFICER COLONEL JOSEPH REALE, HIS OFFICERS AND TROOPERS as a USV unit that has distinguished themselves with extraordinary service or achievement to local communities or the United States Volunteers. Circumstances may be deemed to be extraordinary when they do not represent the typical day-to-day circumstances under which the USV performs or may reasonably be expected to perform.
1. The unit must maintain a 90% or greater drill attendance for 8 of the 12 months in the calendar year.
2. The unit must have received, during the calendar year, any form of commendation in writing from the Commanding General.
3. The unit must have distinguished itself through a specific act, the performance of which must have been accomplished in a manner that which would warrant award of the USV Commendation Ribbon to an individual.
4. This decoration may be awarded to a USV units that have participated in a total of two hundred (200) Military Honors Funerals at any combination of private, public, Veteran’s or National Cemeteries. There is no time limit on the accrual of the 200 funerals requirement.
THE OFFICERS AND TROOPERS OF THE 11th NEW YORK REGIMENT are
hereby authorized to wear from this day forward the Unit Citation Ribbon for
the USV Superior Unit Award.
BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that THE COMMANDING GENERAL USV hereby promotes Lt.
Colonel Joseph Schroder, Executive Officer 11th NY RGT, to the USV
rank of Colonel (O-6).
In further recognition of the enduring dedication and service of Colonel Joseph Schroder to this Nation and to the USV, Colonel Schroder is awarded the highest USV commendation of the USV MERITORIOUS SERVICE RIBBON whereby this ribbon is awarded by the Commanding General United States Volunteers to members of the USV who distinguish himself by outstanding meritorious service that reflects great credit upon the USV.
And, in further recognition Colonel Joseph Schroder is awarded the USV Achievement Ribbon. This ribbon is awarded to members of the USV who distinguish himself while serving in any capacity whose achievement reflects great credit upon the USV.
COLONEL JOSEPH SCHRODER is further transferred to the READY RESERVE of
the UNITED STATES VOLUNTEERS in order to fulfill his TDY Orders to Afghanistan
in service to the United States of America.
The service and dedication of the OFFICERS AND TROOPERS OF THE 11th NEW YORK REGIMENT USV is sincerely appreciated and humbly acknowledged by the Commanding Officer United States Volunteers.
